Entries are now open for the 2019 Lilyfontein Adventure Race, due to take place on 6-7 September in East London.
Adventure Racing is a fast-growing sport that incorporates navigational, mental and physical challenges. Teams of four, with at least one member of the opposite gender, compete in various age categories from age seven upwards.
Here's everything you need to know about this fantastic Buffalo City event:
CATEGORIES TO ENTER Grit Unlimited (60km – 70km) Grit Unlimited (Duo) (60km – 70km) U/19 (60km – 70km) U/15 (55km – 65km) U/13 (±30kms) Mud Overload (±30kms) Grade 4 - 5 (± 12kms) Grade 1 - 3 (±6kms)
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: Could include farm and beach, single track, gravel, trail, and bush. Features could include coastline and immediate interior, ocean views.
PRIZES / PRIZE MONEY: Over R10 000 of prize money to be won.
GOODIE BAGS: First 550 people to enter and pay will receive Goodie Bags
T-SHIRTS: Race shirts will go out to the first 550 entrants.
MEDALS: There will be trophy/medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams in each category.
FOOD / BEVERAGES: Food will be available on Friday evening during briefings/registration and on Saturday until lunch time. U13, U15 and U19 teams sleeping at the venue must ensure that they bring a healthy, filling breakfast from home. Friday: Food and beverages will be on sale on Friday night from 17:00 – 20:00 (please bring cash) Saturday: Tea / coffee will be available at the start from 04:30 – 09:00 PTA Food and beer tent and a tuck shop will available from 10:00 – 16:00
ACCOMMODATION: All school teams (U13, U15 & U19) are required to camp on Friday 6 September. All other participants and supporters are asked to support the accommodation venues on the Wild Coast Jikeleza Route – see http://www.wildcoastjikeleza.co.za/en/ for details.
